THE BIG DEAL
IN THE PAST 5 YEARS THE NUMBERS OF PERSONS WHO HAVE BEEN FORCED TO LEAVE THEIR HOMES HAS CONTINUED TO GROW. WAR, PERSECUTION AND CONFLICTS LIE BEHIND THIS TRENDS. WE WANTED TO SHOW WHAT THE CATALYSTS FOR THESE CONFLICTS ARE. WEAPON EXPORT AND IMPORT FUEL THE CONFLICTS AND THUS SUSTAIN THE WARS. IT IS A COMPLEX AND DYNAMIC TOPIC, THEREFORE WEAPONS ALONE AREN’T THE ONLY CATALYST.
ORIGIN OF THE REFUGEES
weapon import countries
HAVING SEEN THE IMPORT COUNTRIES IN CONTRAST TO THE CONFLICT AREAS IN THE WORLD, THE QUESTION AROSE WHERE THE WEAPONS COME FROM. MORE IMPORTANTLY WE WANTED TO KNOW HOW THE TOP EXPORTERS ACT IN THE REFUGEE MATTER.
WHERE DO THE WEAPONS COME FROM?
In order to set the weapon Import and export in context with the refugee matter, we chose to work with the kalashnikov as symbolic representation.
The Kalashnikov is the most commonly used weapon worldwide as it is very durable. The average price for the Kalashnikovs is about 500 USD.
HOW MANY KALASHNIKOVS ARE EXPORTED
PER ADMITTED REFUGEE?
